Jennings Brothers, or JB, was founded in 1891 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by Edward Austin Jennings. Known for crafting high-quality art metal pieces and fine silver, the company’s meticulous production methods set them apart. Originally formed in 1888, the American Jewelry Company became Jennings Brothers Manufacturing Company in the early 1890s. JB’s business listings spanned from 1892 to 1953 in the Bridgeport City Directory. The company moved to 219 Elm Street in 1905. Successive family leadership, including Edward’s son and grandson, ensured prosperity despite challenges, such as a 1941 fire. The company operated until 1954 when the site was acquired by James J. Sullivan. Despite the closure, the Jennings Brothers molds found new life with the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company in the 1960s, allowing for continued production.
